Transforming Painful Emotions: A Buddhist Approach

In Buddhism, painful emotions are known as delusions. They are called this precisely because they are distorted ways of seeing the world that cloud our perceptions. Delusions such as anger, desirous attachment, jealousy, insecurity, and pride are unreliable states of mind that inevitably create suffering for ourselves and others.

Buddha taught clear, practical methods—rooted in meditation—for recognizing these delusions and transforming them into healthier, reality-based states of mind. By learning to apply these methods, we can dismantle painful mental states and remain peaceful, skillful, and effective even in difficult situations. Could there be a more essential life skill?
