The Way of the Bodhisattva
The Meditations on Training in the Six Perfections
A Bodhisattva is the Buddhist role model for how best to live in the world. And we can become one ourselves.
According to Buddha, our real purpose in this world is to attain enlightenment. Why? So that we can fulfill our compassionate wish to free others from suffering. A Bodhisattva is someone who has awoken to this higher purpose and now practices joyfully to transform the circumstances of their life into the path to enlightenment for the benefit of all.
In this series we will learn how to adopt the mindset of a Bodhisattva. We may feel ourselves to be far removed from the altruistic mindset of Bodhisattva right now, but there is nothing to stop us from becoming a ‘trainee’ Bodhisattva, and beginning to move our life in the direction of the Bodhisattva’s way of life, simply by bringing that mindset to the things that we do.
In particular we will look at how to integrate the six main practices of a Bodhisattva, known as the six perfections, into our activities and way of being. By training in this we begin to taste the extraordinary beauty and benefits of the Bodhisattva right now.
