According to Buddha, we all have within our minds the potential to experience limitless joy, love and freedom from unhappiness. This may sound too good to be true and very different from how we normally perceive ourselves. However, our ordinary limited view of our self, the one that we base all our thoughts and actions upon, is not correct. Buddha clearly demonstrates how the painful self we normally relate to is not our truth, and through an amazing meditation, known as meditation on emptiness, he shows us how to let go of that limited version of our self and our world, and open ourselves up to whole new and wonderful way of being.

In this series of talks and guided meditations Joseph will take us on an extraordinary journey into the true nature of our self and all things. Based on the amazing chapter, Ultimate Bodhichitta in Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book How to Transform Your Life, we will take a deep dive into the meditation on emptiness.

Meditation is for everyone, and anyone can do it right here, right now. But enjoying a five-minute meditation every now and then and developing a sustained practice are two very different things. The latter requires a firm foundation and the development of wisdom views that will give us what we need to sustain our practice.

In Part I of the course, you will learn the fundamentals of the Buddhist view and how they apply to meditation. You’ll learn how to build a meditation experience that brings joy and confidence, and that connects you with your potential to experience a deeper peace, happiness and inner freedom. In Part II you will learn meditation basics, the “nuts and bolts” of how to meditate and develop a practice that lasts. And you’ll meditate!

The profound tools of transformation within Buddhist meditation give us the ability to become the person we wish to be: peaceful, kinder, more dynamic and confident, happier, more loving. In this half-day course, William will show how we use it to connect to profound dimensions within our mind. Through these skillful and creative methods we can initiate and bring about the change we all long for.
